Mission Trips- Local and Puerto Rico

Students in grades 7th -college are eligible for our local missions; 8th grade through college for our Mission Trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico (DOMESTIC MISSION)

TLP will be traveling to San Juan, Puerto Rico in June on a sports ministry mission trip with Praying Pelicans.  On this mission trip, we will be leading a sports themed vacation bible school program for children at a local church.  Prior to the trip, each student will be offered the opportunity to lead in planning the activities for the camp program.  Coach Dave Gray, who will be traveling with us, will mentor us and help us offer an awesome sports-themed program to children who have been through so much.

The area we will visit was not hit by the recent earthquakes, although many are still recovering from damage due to Hurricane Maria two years ago. Poverty is widespread.

A sample daily schedule can be provided, which also includes an excursion to the beach and the shopping area of Old San Juan.  You won’t want to miss this culturally enriching experience, where not only will you serve, but will find that in giving you receive.

Dates: June 13th-19th, 2020

Who: Teens (8th grade - 12th grade) & adult chaperones

Cost: $1,950 (discount for additional family members).  Cost includes pre-trip planning sessions (April 22nd, May 5th, and local sports camp with Coach Dave Gray on May 11th at Pro Bike, North Park).

Local mission trip to Apollo, PA

Apollo, PA (LOCAL)

We’ll begin this full day adventure at 8 am and will return before 10 pm, giving us a full day of service.  We will be working at a blueberry farm in Apollo, PA, which is run by a family who believes in giving back. Its purpose is to offer an opportunity for the people who come to pick blueberries to feel closer to God, to experience His presence in their lives, and to be a part of something bigger than themselves. The farm is a “pick as much as you want, pay as much as you can” farm.  What a gift they are offering to the community! Our past travelers didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return!

What we’ll do:

We will hear their story, mulch/plant blueberry bushes, do light farm work, break bread together, play some games, have a bonfire with s'mores, experience some faith-filled discussions, and learn about life on the farm.  It's sure to be a fun and rewarding day!
